In Solidarity with FEMEN

quranTwo bare-breasted members of the activist feminist organization FEMEN, which has many ex-Muslim members, recently interrupted an Islamic event in France. The event had to do with women in Islam, but the presenters were all male imams.

I am sharing this in solidarity with womankind and with Femen, from their website:

In the beginning, there was the body, feeling of the woman’s body, feeling of joy because it is so light and free. Then there was injustice, so sharp that you feel it with your body, it immobilizes the body, hinders its movements, and then you find yourself your body’s hostage. And so you turn your body against this injustice, mobilizing every body’s cell to struggle against the patriarchy and humiliation.

We live in a world that is flooded with politically-correct apologetics and rampant hishonesty. From time to time, it’s crucial to serve parrhesia. To speak truth and to be frank, even if it’s disruptive. For context, I’d like to also share this Quranic verse ordering men to beat their wives if they disobey, which is the reason why domestic violence will NEVER be addressed in Muslim countries, particularly if / as long as they live under awful Quran-based shari’a law.

“Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband’s] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance – [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], STRIKE THEM. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.” – Quran 4:34
